The History of Cergnago is closely linked to the events of the Abbey of Erbamara, which stood near the farm of Campalestro. Erbamare was a town of very ancient origin, probably prior to the tenth century, if already in documents of 1012-1150 is cited a monastery of considerable importance as to be counted among the abbeys tributary of the Apostolic
