The History
The history of Scaldasole dates from the 10th century. It was recorded in 1250 as a land under the dominion of Pavia, as part of the Lomellina. The Campeggi family of Pavia enfeoffed the Folperti family with the village in 1334. They sold it to Francis III Pico della Mirandola who died in 1461. Through the marriage of his daughter, Taddea, the estate became property of the Malaspina family and eventually of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio (the Gallio family, the Dukes of Alvito, acquired the title of Marquis in 1613) whose family owned it until 1797, when feudalism was abolished.
