The History
The name comes from the Albonese Albogna stream flowing through it "Alboneae meminibus qui rivus ab aqua pluvia…nomen certe inde sumit et vicus ab eadem parte habet cognomen…". The name Albonese appears already written under the imperatoreTraiano (103 AD) in "table Alimentary" bronze, found in Piacenza in 1747 that lists the names of the owners of the possessions that had to guarantee an income sufficient to finance maintenance of the children and was coupled Mede, Cozzo, Zeme, Sartirana etc. and whose owner was M. Virio Nepos. In confirmation of the above, there are the Roman remains found in the left bank of the river Albogna near the parish church and close to the country church of St. Paul.
The name is still read in documents of 967 and 1074.
The country was part of the territory of Pavia, as reported by the imperial diplomas of F. Barbarossa in 1161 and 1191.
In 1313 the "robust castle Albonese" was given to Guidetto Langosco but Matteo Visconti in 1314, following an unsuccessful attempt to occupy the castles Robbio and Nicorvo laid siege to Albonese that after three days surrendered. In 1407 it was destroyed by Facino Cane
